The Plano Community Band has continuously served the Plano and surrounding communities since 1979. The bandstand in Haggard Park is named after Thomas Hughston, one of the original founders of the band. Tom urged the city to build it, even hiring an architect to design it, and the Plano Community Band has been playing summer concerts in it ever since. The band plays indoor concerts in the fall and winter.

The Plano Community Band is a member of the Association of Concert Bands, an international organization dedicated to the advancement of adult community bands. The Plano Community Band hosted the ACB convention in 1992 and will be hosting it again in 2010.

Each of the five summer concerts this year will feature an entirely different program. The band has been working hard to expand their repertoire, and the summer audience will enjoy the variety.
